For those researching this family line - I believe you all are connected to my TN and KY
Carney's. My Nicholas Carney born abt 1807, came from Botetourt or Roanoke to
Fentress county TN. I'm trying to uncover who his parents may have been.
Nicholas married Emeline Davis around 1836 by Rev. Aaron Newman, then came to TN. They
lived near Thomas & Nancy Garrett and Thomas and Aaron Barnes. Her widows pension
file mentions Bonsack Mill in Roanoke VA. I have also read the Carney's lived near
there.
Anyone with ties to this area, please email me. We have DNA tested one of our Carney
males and would love to know if we tie into this family.
Warm Regards,
Tonya Carney Archey
Glasgow KY

I have found out that John was married to Ann Myers, daughter of Henry Myers of New
Castle, Botetourt (now Craig County) Virginia. I found some land and will records for
Henry Myers. Do not know who Henry's wife was. their children were John Andrew and
Mary E Carney - Mary married Marion Marmaduke and settled in Vernon Co MO. John A and his
wife Susan Virginia MILLER CARNEY settled in Shelbyville, Shelby MO. John's father
John was listed with the family in 1870 in Monroe County MO. Ann was listed with the
family in 1850 and 1860 census in MO
