JOHN CARNEY
SEPTEMBER 3, 1909
The death of John Carney, an old resident of Chatsworth, occurred on Friday afternoon,
August 27, at his home on East Maple street, following an illness of about six weeks with
stomach trouble. Funeral services were held at SS. Peter and Paul's church on Sunday
afternoon at two o'clock and the interment was at St. Patrick's cemetery.
John Carney was born in county Meath, Ireland, in 1852. He came to the United States in
1872 and located in Chatsworth the same year. He resided here until 1878, when he moved to
Duluth, Wis. In 1882 he was united in marriage with Anna Walsh, one son Bernard, now a
resident of Seattle, Wash., being born to the union. About two years ago Mr. and Mrs.
Carney came to Chatsworth to reside and have since made their home here, living in the
house on East Maple street, formerly known as the Mrs. McDonald house.
Besides his wife and son deceased is survived by four sisters and four brothers.
Among those from out of town who were present at the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. John Reed,
of Minneapolis, the former a son of Mrs. Carney, and Mrs. Maria Brown, a daughter of Mrs.
Carney.
