We are looking for the parents and siblings of our grandfather, Patrick Carney. Our
information is sketchy but is as follows:
Patrick Carney was born in County Mayo, perhaps in Castlebar. Another name or place name
we have seen is Drumhogge but we cannot find that. We believe Patrick's father's
name was Thomas Carney and his mother's maiden name may have been Gilmore. We also
believe they were tenet farmers. Patrick was born about 1862 and emigrated to the US in
1880. We do not know where he entered the country, only that he ended up in Chicago, Il in
the early 1890s. We do not know if Patrick came to America with his entire family,
siblings or alone but suspect he traveled with siblings. Some of his sibling's names
are Michael, who was a jockey and we believe died in California, James who either stayed
in or returned to Ireland, Mary and Ann. Either Mary or Ann married a Burke and lived in
either Iowa or Dakota. We believe Patrick was a miner in Montana before 1890, went to
Chicago, met Mary Agnes Henehan (Hennigan, Hanegan or Heneghan) in 1892 and married her
about 1894. By 1900 they had moved t!
o Hecla, Mt. Any information on Patrick's parents or siblings would be appreciated.
