I hope you do. It's a beautiful island full of pleasant people. It's a great place
to eat, drink, listen to music & be merry.
All the best!

i Tonya-
There is another Carney Castle- this one a restaurant- in the town of Cashel in
outh Tipperary. That is probably where your reunion would have been.
All the best!

see that you mention the ruins of Carney Castle. My father use to receive an
vitation to a Carney family reunion in Ireland near the Carney Castle. This
uld have been around 1980 or so. He didn't know any of the Carney's in
eland and never attended. I have always wondered where it was. Thank you so
ch for mentioning it.

or those interested, just north of Sligo City and slightly west of the main
ad to Donegal is the village of CARNEY. I stopped there in August of this
ar, but was not able to find anyone who knew anything about the history of the
llage or why it was named Carney. If you are in that area, Laura's pub
esn't open until 5pm apparently, and I don't know when the Chinese Take-out
ace is open. Both were closed when I was there in mid afternoon. The other
llage named CARNEY that I am aware of is in County Limerick just north of
nagh near Lough Derg. Just south of the Village is the ruins of CARNEY
stle, but even though I had good directions and a couple of pictures, I was
able to find it. It is on private property and is not open to the public, but
am told that the owner will usually let you visit. No one in the village
emed to know anything about the castle. Otherwise my visit to Ireland was
eat fun.
