Yep, we will have to do that...but see, the Mary Carney is not my gr-grandmo...her name was Margaret A. Carney Galvin, and she was the daughter of Michael & Mary (Dwyer) Carney, wife of John Galvin, and she died June 7th, 1897 @ age 23, 10 mos & 10 days according to her death certificate. All that adds up to the same family, but then again my Mary Galvin was put in the foster care system and I don't know when. So, MARY Galvin can't be your aunt that lived in S Boston, might have been a Mary Carney, but not Mary Galvin, probably a cousin of my gr-mother. I am going to try to remember to send for her SS application to see if I can get more information. Maureen

Thats the facts I have, It just seems "TOO WERID" that the dates you have. for Ellen and Margarette are the same ones I have don't you think that alttle coinsidental????? Id either check John Perroni, or Mary Carney's death Certificates to see if WE"RE ON THE SAME PAGE either that or wait til I get up there and we check together?Thats is if you can wait that long!!!!!Without going Nuts over the SUSPENSE!!!!!

see? More confustion...the 1900 census has Mary Carney as Mary Carney's (head) daughter. If she was already dead in 1897, why was her mother listing her as living in 1900?? I just don't know if I will ever solve this thing. :)

no, Margaret Morganty was the sister of Mary Carney Galvin. My gr-grandmother was Mary Galvin, but not the one that you know of that lived in South Boston. My Mary Galvin was born before her. Margaret Carney Morganty was married to a Frank Morganty. If you don't have Margaret Morganty as a grand-daughter to Carney and a daughter to Ellen Morganty and Mary Galvin as daughter of John & Mary Galvin then we are not on the same family page. I also have Mary Carney, 78, and Mary Galvin, 15 living with John & Mary Perroni in 1910 living on Concord St. By then, Mary Galvin's mother had already died (I think). She was not living with her mother & daughter at that time. It is very confusing. In 1910 the Mary Galvin that was living with the Perroni's and her Gr-mother, Mary Carney, was NOT my grandmother, cuz my gr-mother was 21 years old in 1914 when she got married, which brings me back to the 1st Mary Galvin born to Mary Carney before she married John Galvin. I think there wer 2 M!
ary Galvins born to Mary Carney. The 1st one lists Mary Carney as mother, father is left blank, but she named the child Mary Galvin. Let me know what day is good for you when you are here. It is easier for me to plan to go to Boston than for you cuz I am only 50 miles away. :) Maureen

No, none of the above. My Mary Galvin was the daughter of Mary Carney..she lived on Cambridge St, Boston in 1900 with her mother, Mary Carney. Also, gr-daughter Mary Carney who was born in July and was 5 or 6 @ time of census..hard to read cuz it was marked over. John Galvin, age 27 ws a border with them (along with his brother Luke, age 23). Now, Mary Galvin had a child, Mary Galvin, father not listed, and later there is a marriage cert for Mary Carney and John Galvin, then there was a daughter born to them after the marriage, also called Mary. When they had the 1st Mary Galvin, the mother was listed as Mary Carney, with no father listed & the mother was only 17. I suspect that since my grandmothers parents are listed as unknown, and she ended up in the foster care system, that the child was taken away by either state or church. The 1900 census also shows an Ellen Morganty, daughter of Mary Carney (head) and Margaret Morganty, another grandaughter to Mary (Dwyer) Carney. !
So, the census reads: Mary Carney, head, born 1832, Ellen Morganty, daughter, b. 1872, Mary Carney daughter, b.1870, age 29, mary Galvin b 1894, Margaret Morganty, gr daughter, b 1899, John Galvin, boarder, b 1873, luke Galvin, boarder, age 23, Patrick Finnergan and GGeorge Whittaker, only thing known is that they were males, no relationship to head, age & dob unknown, Patrick Kelley, lodger, b april 1868. Now, getting to my grandmother, she married my gr-father, Charles K. Lewin on 10/6/1914. She was 21 years old. Her parents are listed as unknown on her marriage certificate. Now, I did check with the priest and she would NOT have been allowed to marry in the Catholic Church had she not been Baptized AND made her 1st Communion and her Confirmation in the Catholic Church...this is why I suspect that she was given up to the Catholic Charities & put into foster care, but her true parents were John Galvin and Mary Carney. The only Baptism I could find at the Boston Archdi!
ose was in Latin, Miriam Theresa. 1900 census shows Mary carney had 3
children, 2 living, so all adds up to she was the one that had my gr-mother, but gave up or forced into putting her in foster care, she was never adopted by anyone. Another little hint, I think my mother knew more than she said cuz she named my sister Miriam Theresa....my Mother's name was Miriam Grace. Hope I didn't confuse you. :) Let me know exact dates you will be jere cuz the only way yo can go to the archdiocese is by appointment..very very strict. :) tt ya soon. Maureen

Yes, Dwyer was was gr-grandmo maiden name, she married Michael Carney, they had Mary Carney who married John Galvin, now there are 2 mary galvins born to Mary Carney, one before she married John Galvin, father not listed...this is the one that I think is my gr-granmother. There is also another Mary Galvin born to Mary & John Galvin after they were married, and I think that one is your Auntie Mame...Mary Galvin was 21 when she had your aunt, only 17 when she had my gr-mother, I think I am correct in that...but yes, Mary Carney Galvin is burried in an unmarked grave in Malden, Holy Cross Cemetery. :)
