Robyn, I've been tripping over your web prints for weeks, but every trail leads no where - so here goes...
Your grandmother was Ellen Virginia Slattery, dau. of Martin Joseph and Ellen Slattery. Martin came from Ireland in 1886. Ellen came from England. She died in 1936.
Your great grandmother Ellen eventually had 17 children, all of whom lived to at least the age of 1, 10 who lived to the age of 12. Children listed in the 1910 census (Youngstown) include Agnes age 15, Francis (dau) age 14, Joseph age 12, Martin age 11, James age 10, Ellen age 8, Catherine age 7, Margaret age 6 and Edward age 3. Martin was a steel worker.
Ellen Virginia (b. 22 Apr 1901) m. Edward Martin Carney (b. 10 Aug 1900 or 01) in 1926. They had three kids. She worked as a book keeper. He was a teacher and a coach. She died of breast cancer sometime between 1952-55. He died August of 1966.
Edward was the son of Martin Joseph (yes, that's the same name as Ellen Virginia's father) and Minnie Carney. I'm told they were born and married in Ireland. Edward was the oldest boy.
