Cathy, So excited to get your message! Can we pursue this? My Michael b. @ 1820 married Mary Beirne. I only know of their daughter Winifred Carney b. 1838 who married Bernard Coll right now. Does that sound familiar? 13 Carney related families there must be some out there that belongs to me! Tim

hi Tim,
I'm also researching my Carney roots - I also have a Michael (b abt. 1820/21) who was a shoemaker in Lisacul (Frenchpark area of co. roscommon) i've not been able to trace his wife's name although he def had children Andrew b. 1874 / Bridget (my G G Mother) b. 1875/6 / Owen b.1882 / James (poss known as Jack) b. 1890 (d.o.b. for all are slightly approx as taken from census records)
The tree gets a bit tangled as they also had cousins in the same area (Andrew married Winnie Carney b.1882) who was daughter of Mary & who had siblings James/ Ellen/ William/ Katie/ Maggie.
I know that at about the turn of the century there were 13 families in the same village all Carneys many of whom I believe were related in some way
I believe Owen emigrated to the U.S. on the Baltic in 1905 although I haven't been able to find any more about him also Jack is thought to have emigrated although I haven't been able to prove this (info from my grandmother (d.1988) who told me stories about "Uncle Jack" when I was a child.
If any of this seems to tie up with your records please get in touch as I have more info & would be delighted to share what I know
Best Wishes
Cathy

included the list address as a cc: to this message, and if anyone has
information on Wilson Carney they should contact Lance directly at

I have been looking for Williams dob and dod for years now. He came from
Virginia, but not sure exactly where. Cannot seem to go any further back.
He had two sons, Tobias and Robert, also a daughter who married and went to
live in Georgia (I think). Tobias moved to New Hanover and this is my line.
I never heard anything about William being related to Indians.
I have a good bit of the line from Tobias down. Glad to share.

Hello, These names are not familiar to me. However, I have so very little on the Carney's. At one time, one of my cousins thought that Calvin's brother's name might have been Isaac. I was also told that a Jim Carney was some kin? The info I have is just a little blurb: Jim Carney's brothers: Rossie and Curly. The children of Jim Carney: Walter, Allen, & Patricia. This is all I have of other possible kin. I have no birthdates or anything. I hope that we can connect somewhere. Rita autumnwynd82(a)hotmail.com

Wondering if you have a William Carney in your info. He was in NC, married a Margaret ?, daughter Harriet, sons Robert and Tobias. Not certain of birth dates on Robert and Harriet, but Tobias was born in 1833. Someone else said Robert was born in 1813. I have William's will dated 1858. I do not know his origin, but hoping to stumble on something soon.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Her name was Mary Carney. she was born 1 3 1867 in chicago Ill. That is what we were all told. Her father was Patrick Carney from Ireland and her mother was Anna Baker. She died 1 30 1938 the year before I was born.My mother always told us that her mother Mary was raised in an orphanage because her parents were killed in a steamship explosion on the mississippi river. She cam out of the orphanage when she was 16 to 18 years of age and worked in a boarding house that is where she met my grandfather Benjamin Mark. He had been married once before and had 5 sons. The 1900 census in Cin. oh. lists two of Bens sons living with them and said they were born in wis. There names were Louis age 21 and Edwin age 17. A ladie at work told me to check Michigan because in the early 20's cook county was listed as part of Mich. Thanks for any and all help. Marion

Kymm and Marion: Let's not give up hope that this could be Patrick, son of Nicholas. DeSoto Missouri is only about 4 miles from the Mississippi river and IL. What we need to do is investigate steamships, orphanage records, newspaper articles, and death certificates. Where in IL was your GGrandmother born? Tell us everything you know about Patrick, his wife, and their children.
Thanks
Tonya

I don't know anything about Patrick, He is listed on my grandma' death certificate as her father. Sh told the story that she was raised in an orphange ecause her mother and father were killed in an explosion on a steamship on the Mississippe. She was born in 1867 and she remembers them so it had to have happened when she was older than an infant so it may be the same patrick and that is why there is no trace of him. oh well if you find anything lwt me know please, i have hit a standstill. This Patrick CARNEY s/o Nicholas and Emeline is said (by his brother) to have been at or near DeSoto, MO at some point. Could he have passed through IL at some point?? This Patrick is still a mystery to me! I've yet to locate him near DeSoto...
However...I did find a Valentine P. CARNEY living near Jefferson County in 1870. His mother Margaret was living with him then. She was in a seperate house in 1880.
