Carney and Catherine ?. She married Charles W. Calhoun in 1852 in
Boston, MA. In 1860 there is a James Carney living next door to Ann and
Charles in East Boston. I haven't been able to find the Carneys on the

Hello fellow Carney Researchers
My Patrick Carney was born in Inchigeelagh Parish in Cork in 1822. His
parents were Denis Kearney and Hannah Murphy. Patrick was transported to
Australia in 1835 (imagine he was 12 years old) and his brother William was
sent out a few years later. My query is - Could any of his siblings have
left Ireland and gone to U.S.A? His siblings were Catherine, Denis, Mary
and William. He married a famine girl Anne Maloney in Queensland Australia
and they had six children.
Love to hear from any CARNEYS/KEARNEYS from Cork

Unfortunately I do not have any of these names in my family tree, althought
I do know there are a lot of Carneys in the Cleveland Ohio area.
I did a net search once and came up with a Carney gentleman in the Cleveland
area that runs a moving/trucking company, so I figured I'd ask him of his
family. Below is the response that I received, which may be interest to
someone:
"Dear Bill, Our Carney familty comes from Cor na mona, County Galway,
Ireland, around the 1880's. My grandfather came alone and he one brother
that stayed in Ireland. Those Carney's have a gust house in Cornamona called
Carney's Farmhouse Accommodation, Cornamona, County Galway, Ireland. You may
be able to write to Patrick, at that address, and get more information about
the Carney's in Ireland. I hope this is helpful, there are alot of Carneys.
Regards, Tom Carney, the father of the Tom Carney you sent the message to,
from Youngstown, Ohio."

I'm searching for any information on a Willis Carney (b abt 1797, d Feb.
12, 1857 in Jefferson Twp., Noble Co. Ohio) married 1st wife Jane ?? before
1820. Their children were Elizabeth, Nancy, Adam, Susan and John. Married
2nd wife Priscilla Strong Dec. 22, 1850. Their child was Thomas.
I have found Willis in the 1820 and 1830 Fed. Census Ohio County, Virginia
(now WVa) then in the 1840 and 1850 Fed. Census Washington County, Ohio.
Would like to know who his parents were and if he migrated from farther
east.
Thanks for any help,
Kathy
I forwarded this to the list in case anyone has any suggestions.

I do not yet know where in Ireland Dan was from. I just talked to someone
today who researches Irish heritage and he suggested that I look in the
Catholic Parish records in Kalamazoo. I will try that next unless you have
an idea how to find out where my Dan is from? I'll let you know if I find
anything.

My Carneys were brickmasons also. Do you happen to know where in Ireland
Dan was from? I have a Patrick (born abt. 17 MAR 1826 in Shinrone, King's
County (Co. Offaly) Ireland) and tentatively Michael (b. circa 1834), both
brickmasons, who lived in Bay City, Michigan post 1867)

Thanks for getting the CARNEYs organized. My CARNEY/KERNEY family starts with Samuel KERNEY, b. 29
April 1763, who married Eleanor MARR in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp, Northampton Co., PA, and died in
Pekin, Niagara Co, NY ca 13 July, 1818. They had 8 children between 1787 and 1804 apparently.
John CARNEY, b. 10 Oct 1787
William CARNEY, b. 12 Dec. 1789
Joseph CARNEY, b. 14 Sept 1791
Hannah CARNEY, b. April 1793
David CARNEY, b. Mar 1795
Walter CARNEY b. Aug 1797
Alem CARNEY b. Oct 1804
Samuel CARNEY b. Oct 1804
I trace my direct line from John to his 9 or 10 children, many of whom followed him to Scott-Climax
area in Kalamazoo Co., MI where they purchased their lands ca 1835. Many of the CARNEYs stayed in
Kalamazoo Co, and there are still relatives in the immediate area today. Some of John's brothers'
families ended up in St. Clair Co, MI as well as Sanilac Co, and Mc Comb Co, MI.
It can certainly be assumed that my original Samuel KERNEY/CARNEY had sibs. Is there any suggestion
that the Thomas mentioned might have had a brother, Samuel? I can't wait to hear more about the
possible PA>NY>MI connections.
Looking for information on Kearney's from County Derry, Ireland. My
gr-gr-gr-grandfather was Francis Kearney, born 1787 in County Derry. He
left Ireland in 1847 from the townland of Brackaghlislea and emigrated
to America, settling in Harford County, MD. Francis was married to
Bridget Bradley and they had 7 children, all of whom came to America as
well. They were Mary, Francis, Patrick, John, Bridget, Matilda and
Andrew.
I would be very interested in hearing from anyone with Kearney ties in
County Derry. I have compiled quite a bit of information on my line and
would be happy to share anything I have.
