Hi! I am hoping that I will reach some cousin also looking for my line.
From earliest Carnes: Godfrey Carnes, b. 1750 in Holland, d. 11 July
1842 in Pymatuning Twshp, Mercer County PA. He was also from
Westmoreland County, PA. It was there that he joined the Eighth PA
Regiment under Col. Daniel Brodhead, Capt. Clark's Company during the
Am. Revolution. His pension papers say that this regiment participated
in the Battles of Trenton, Brandywine, Princeton, Paoli, Germantown.
They also spent that horrible winter at Valley Forge. It was his
daughter, Elizabeth, that married Cornelius Riley in Mercer County, PA.
Her tombstone says she was the wife of Cornelius Riley and William
Brush. She had several children by both husbands. Her youngest with
Cornelius Riley was my great grandfather. I hope this rings some bells
for some Carnes. I would welcome contact with a distant cousin in this
line.
Sincerely,
Dorislee Riley Hoffpauer
