First I must say that this is NOT my Carnes family. I collected the
information because one my mother's cousins said our Grandpa Carnes
said something about the family being from "Blunt" Co., Alabama. This
has not worked out for my Nacogdoches Co., TX Carnes as yet, but is
possible in his wife's Blackburn family.
My Carnes family is Wells Carnes, Wm. Redwine Carnes b. 1813, and
William Franklin Carnes b. 1845, from Franklin Co, GA to Hinds Co.,
Mississippi to Nacogdoches Co., TX.
I kept seeing the David Carnes and Polly Slavin in various places as I
researched and the Blount Co., AL kept catching my attention. When I
found the family written up in a section of a book I found when
researching in Salt Lake City, I xeroxed it. I have it converted using
OCR and editing. I will send it if you do not have it.
I don't have much for you and you probably already have the bits and
pieces as it appears that our information is the same (except that you
filled in a bit more.)
I have a Child named Rice Carnes as a 6th child of David and Polly. No
more information.
I have a child named Irene Russell, dau of Amanda Carnes and Alf
Russell
I have a child named Elizabeth Stephens, dau of Elizabeth Carnes and
Richard Stephens.
James Austin Carnes and Bertha Alldredge have a daughter Vivian Irene.
I have a William Walton Carnes, Jr. as a brother to your Carl Elbert
Carns. He had a wife named Mary
I have 8 children instead of 6 for James and Nancy Staton in a
slightly different order.
1. George D.
2. Cary Ann
3. Mary
4. Elizabeth
5. Angeline m. Claiborn Hinds
6. James Austin
7. Amanda
8. Thomas Wiltshire m. Jane Trice. Ch: Dave/Dove, George, Will, Tom,
John.
That's about it, except that I made contact with a man named Slavin
who traces his ancestry back to one of my husband's ancestors. He has
Polly Slavin m. David Carnes among his Slavin descendants. He has a
webpage and, if you haven't seen it, I will look in my files for his
URL for you.
