Uel Carnes
RED BAY, Ala. -- Uel Fray Carnes, 83, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at
the Red Bay Hospital. He was a native of Alabama. He was a security
guard for Tiffin Motor Homes for 25 years and a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Deaton Funeral
Home Chapel in Red Bay with the Rev. Tom Scott and David Corum
officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery.
Survivors include six daughters, Eloise Crowder and her husband, Ray,
Barbara McDowell and Brenda Purser, all of Red Bay, Carolyn Thorn and
her husband, Robert, of Vina, Ala., Janie Bjork and her husband, Rick,
of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., and Charlotte Funderburk and her husband,
Oneal, of Golden; one son, John Carnes and his wife, Jeneen, of Beaver
Dam, Wis.; four sisters, Maxine Price of Russellville, Ala., Lurlene
Burmester of Lafayette, La., Nell Bullen of Red Bay, Ala., and Floyce
Swindle of Southaven; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Carnes; a son, Euel F.
Carnes; his parents, Gertie N. and Flora C. Carnes; and three sisters,
Lora Wilson, Elouise Carnes and Jane Carnes.
Pallbearers will be Gary Thorn, Tracy Crowder, Jeremy Funderburk, Larry
McDowell, Brent Bjork and Mark Carnes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Tiffin, Herbert Moses, Lowell Frost,
Dennis Sell, Glynn Duncan, Jeff Martin, L.C. White and Clyde Jackson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice South in
Russellville, Ala.
