Hi Kim and other cousins:
I descend from Richard Carnes b 1774 NJ, and Delphia McGinnis Carnes, who
came to Franklin Co GA by 1799 or 1800, probably by way of VA and NC, with
their oldest son, Holloway. They lived in the Shoal Creek area which later
became Hart Co GA the remainder of their lives and many of their
descendents still remain in Hart and Franklin Cos.
I have spent many years pouring over Carnes records and have visited
Carnesville a number of times - think I have seen every record there.
Contemporary to my Richard is Franklin Co early 1800's were:
1) Peter Carnes (the lawyer, legislator for whom Carnesville is named).
I think he may be some relation but not as close as brother.
2) Holloway Carnes. I feel confident he was a brother to my Richard.
They were involved in land transactions together; lived in the same area;
and my Richard named his first son, Holloway, I feel after his older
brother, Holloway.
3) Wells Carnes. Again, I feel confident a brother to my Richard.
Again, land transactions, proximity, and my Richard named his second son,
Wells.
4) I have always considered John P. Carnes a possible candidate for yet
again brother in this group. This based on timeframe and proximity.
I have looked closely at the Joseph & Comfort Carnes line and have talked
to a couple of their west Georgia descendants who call me cousin, they are
so sure we are somehow related. And we probably are....just haven't found
the link yet.
Kim, the Lidia Cash and Comfort Ann Cash is one I had overlooked. Very
interesting. I will see what I can find. I guess because I have found no
other connection to Joseph & Comfort and just a "possible" idea on John P.
Carnes, I had failed to look closely at Comfort and Lidia. Thanks for the
heads up!

I have question?
Is any one working on John P. Carnes who married Lidia H. Cash April 18,
1820 in Franklin County, Georgia?
Who was his parents and who was Lidia 's parents....I have a feeling her
parents could be a cousin to Comfort Ann Cash Carnes and John P Carnes could
be a cousin or some relations to Comfort's husband Joseph Carnes...
Thanks Kim.
