I really think this is going to be your family. Osage Co. is a very rural
county, there are no big towns in it. Chamois is a little 'pea hole' river
town and Deer Creek, where Thomas lived, was just a small farming community.
Not a whole lot of families with the same name to get mixed up on here. I
have a note that there was a marriage record for Thomas and Rachel in Osage
Co. marriage book 'A' for June 25, 1848, but I don't have anything further
on Julia herself.
My line is Jehu Carnes and Nancy Burton>Nancy Carnes and John
Brumble>Georgia Ann Brumble and Henry C. Morton>Clyde Morton and Beulah
Marmet>Larry Morton and Jaydine Arnold>me.
I have Jehu Carnes appearing in 1850 Osage Co., census; 1840 Gasconade Co.,
MO census; 1830 McMinn Co., TN census. There is a biography on this family
in the book, "History of Maries County Missouri"/King and also I have a
newspaper clipping on them from the Osage County Observer in 1979. Also
have an obituary for Jehu from the St. Louis Christian Advocate (1867).

Hi La Myra,
This is great. You do have the same date for Julia. My Mom had thought her
parents were Jac and Sue, but never had any documentation to back that
theory
up.
They were supposed to have had a farm around Chamois, and never could find
out if they ever visited there daughter in OK. Never heard of her siblings.
All that I had to go on was my Mom's memory, she believed both sets of
grandparents were Jac & Sue, that would've been very unlikely. In another
line I did find a Jacob and Susan. I don't believe they had ever met Julia's
parents, but being small children they blended their grandparents names.
They married and moved to Chism, Ok and had a total of 11 children, two died
as infants.
Now that I have more information I can try for a marriage license. This will
might help linking her to Thomas and Rachel.
Once they moved to Okla, everything is well documented, so I can share this.
What part of the Carnes family do you decend from?
I descend from, Julia Ann Carnes & Edward VanSchuyver> Janie Van Schuyver &
William H. Beets> Calcia Beets & Willo Brewer> me.
Can you tell me more about this family, anything.
Thanks for responding, this list is not very active, a little like me,
LOL's.
