Any info on the parentage of Orpha Carnes Chappelear? My Richard Carnes b.
1774 NJ, d. after 1850, was in Franklin County, GA by abt 1800. Many
relatives and descendants lived in Franklin, and later Hart County. Most
likely there is a connection somewhere there.

My Carnes:
Orpha CARNES was the wife of Henry Chappelear. Orpha was born about 1770 and
died before 1840 in Franklin Co., GA.
Henry and Orpha Chappelear's daughter Margaret Chappelear (b c1809 Franklin
Co., GA-d before 1877 Etowah Co., AL) married Murdoch McDuffie.
John P Carnes lived in the household of Norman H McDuffie for two census
years 1850, 1860. They lived on land in Cherokee Co., AL which was a
military warrant to John P Carnes for services in the War of 1812. The land
was assigned to Norman H McDuffie. Norman is the son of Murdoch and Margaret
(Chappelear) McDuffie.
John P Carnes was born about 1785.
No relationship was explained on the census. It is possible that John P
Carnes is a brother of Orpha Carnes Chappelear.
