Also, there seem to have been Carnes in New Haven, Connecticut in the
1600's. The people who colonized Southold, Long Island in 1640 (from
whence my John Carnes was almost certainly NOT) came to Long Island from
New Haven and stayed connected politically to Connecticut.
Do you know anything about the New Haven Carnes?
