A quote from the Carroll county geneaology page:
(
http://genforum.genealogy.com/ga/carroll/) You may have been here.
1. I just wanted to share my results from my visit to Paulding County,
Georgia library May 6, 2000.
source book:
"Carroll County, GA Abstracts of Deed Book A and B: 1827 - 1836"
Carroll County Deed Book B
page 236, Carroll County, 25, Dec 1831. John Cogburn, Franklin County to
John Carnes, Carroll County. $100.00. Land lot # 114, 2nd Dist. Carroll (now
Douglas) County. 202 1/2 acres. Attest: Jacob Awtrey, Charles Hulsey.
2. I am looking for information on Clayton William Carnes born 1/6/1832 in
Carroll County GA died 9 24 1924 in Comanche Co., TX. He married Sarah
Eleanor Taylor born 1844.
I would love to receive information on the ancestors of William Clayton
Carnes. Any data will greatly be appreciated. Thank you.
3. I'm not a Henslee descendant but have done a lot of research into local
cemeteries, census records, etc., and corresponded with Grace Henslee Massie
in the 1970s-80s. I haven't seen the fact posted on this forum, but William
J. Henslee, Jan. 19, 1815-Aug. 19, 1882, is buried in Douglas County in a
small cemetery off North Helton Road near the Carroll County line. Reynolds
and Robinson markers are most prevalent in this very small cemetery. William
J. Henslee lived in Cherokee County, Ala., in the 1840s before returning to
Carroll County.
One daughter of William J. Henslee was Georgia Ann, born 1 Nov. 1856 Carroll
County, living in Douglas County as late as 1938, when she received a CSA
pension for the service of her late husband, William Jasper Hembree, 26 Dec.
1821-1 Dec. 1905 (married 30 Nov. 1882). (His tombstone at New Hope Ch.
Cem., Villa Rica, Carroll Co., gives his death date as 1905, but his death
is shown as 1 Dec. 1904 in the Confederate pension file of his widow, filed
in Douglas County.) William J. Hembree and Georgia A. Henslee were the
parents of Grover Hembree, born 1886, who married 1907, Douglas County,
Linnie Mae Duren.
