Hi all!
I'm a new-comer to the list. I'm not sure about list-protocol, so if
personal introductions are out of order, please forgive me (and correct
me...I learn quickly) I'm John Karnes. I was born in Dunklin County
Missouri in 1967. I grew up in Pemiscot County Missouri, then attended
college at Mississippi State University, Murray State University (Kentucky)
and the University of Alabama. I now live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and
Chief Financial Officer for an In-Home health care company which covers most
of the state. I'm an active Free-Mason, a Shriner and a member of the
I.O.O.F. Genealogy has always been of interest to me, but in the past few
years (with the help of the internet) I've become much more interested in
it.
I haven't posted anything yet, because I've been ridiculously busy with
work and also because my last name is "Karnes" and I don't have a whole lot
of info to offer. My immediate family came from Southeast Missouri (Dunklin
County) and migrated there from the Jackson (Madison County) area of
Tennessee. I can only go as far back as my Great Grandfather Anderson
Karnes who came to Missouri in 1889. Is there anyone on the list who has
info on the origin of the Carnes/Carns/Karnes/Karns name?
I welcome any and all information, either via the list or by private e-mail
to: karnes(a)clas.net or to my "snail-mail" address
Very Sincerely,
John M. Karnes, P.M.
