Hi--
I am a descendant of Lewis Karns, Sr (b1760 Allegheny Co, PA,
d 1832 Zanesville, Muskingum Co, OH) and Elinor "Nellie" Gordon (b
1765 Frederick Co, MD, d 1854 Duncan Falls, Muskingum Co, OH). They
migrated to Ohio in the early 1800's from PA.
The second of their 12 children was Lewis Lein Karns, Jr (b
1785 PA, d Duncan Falls, Muskingum Co, OH) who m Susanna Euanna
Brewster (b 1786, d 1847 Duncan Falls, Muskingum Co, OH).
Of their eight children, the 4th was Henry Karns (b 1810,
Muskingum Co, OH, d 1879 Jefferson Co, IA) who m Diantha McAllister
(b 1801, Essex Co, VT, d McCune, Crawford Co, KS).
Their eldest child was Michael Karns (b 1833 Taylorsville,
Muskingum Co, OH, d 1910 Ft. Dodge, Ford Co, KS) was my great
grandfather. Henry and Michael migrated to Iowa. Michael served in
the Civil War as a member of the Iowa Volunteers. Michael was m to
Jane Manely (b 1843 West Middleton, Washington Co, PA, d 1918
Gracemont, Caddo Co, OK).
Michael and my granfather William Taylor Karns migrated to
Kansas. Later, William Taylor along with his wife Carrie Bacon Karns
and my father Donald Page Karns came to the Oklahoma Territory in
1900 settling near Anadarko, OK in the last of the land openings of
the Territory.
I will be happy to exchange data. I have some collateral data
on the various families due to some excellent research my deceased
distant cousin Evelyn Jacobs Norweb of Cincinnati did.
