Thanks for writing me back, Rita. My Carnes family were in Ohio at the birth
of my g grandmother; however, I can't find them (1850s) YET. Then, they
moved to Shelby Co., Illinois. There, they intermarried with the ANDERSON
family of Shelbyville and moved to Prairie Co. Arkansas, finally. That's all
I know right now! Thanks again.

I don't think your line of Karnes/Carnes is related to mine; Henry Karnes,
b. Tenn., 1888 is the earliest ancestor I have found in my line. Henry and
his descendants are available if you find a connection.

James S.W. Carnes was born 1833 in Knoxville, TN. Died in 1903 in
Neosho, MO.
Married Caroline Barnes (daughter of James Barnes and Mary Lister of
Blount CO, TN) Moved to Maryville, TN where he was a wagon maker. Had
at least one brother named Elliot Carnes. Seeking a possible connection
to John Karnes/Karns born 1794 in VA. John moved to Knoxville, TN and
had several children, one of which may have been James.
