Hi William,
Here are some sources that I have. Charles son of Patrick CARNEGY ESQ
4th Earl of Lour and Margaret St. Clair BOWER. b. 08 Dec 1807 d.22 Mar
1874 Burn Cottage. Had a son with Janet "Jessie" HILL b. abt 1810 named
Charles CARNEGY (she never married the father). In the OPR document for
the birth of Charles reads as follows. "Mr. Charles CARNEGY farmer
Balmashanner and Janet HILL had an infant boy 27th May and christened
10th June named Charles CARNEGY and given the Name CARNEGY." If this was
disputed the boy would have been registered as Charles HILL.
Charles CARNEGY (the father) farmer of Balmashanner is also registered
in the OPR the next year for his marriage to Sophia BELL.
Now in 1859 (sorry about the last date of marriage) Marriage for
Charles CARNEGY (the son) and Isabella TOSH in the Parish of Arbirlot in
the county of Forfar (page 7) Charles's father is recorded as Charles
CARNEGY, Gentleman and mother Jessie HILL.
I hope this helps
Bill

Bill,
The Earls of Northesk and Southesk both use the spelling CARNEGIE in their lines. As far
as I know the only line using the CARNEGY spelling is the Barroness Carnegy of Lour who I
had the pleasure of meeting two years ago at the family's 600th Celebration and
Gathering at Kinnaird. She resides just north of Brechin, approximately 12 miles from
Forfar. I would be very interested in receiving a copy of your family line, as I am
currently working on several to help others research their lines. The Earl of Northesk
and family currently reside in Sarasota, Florida. The Earl of Southesk and family at
Kinnaird Castle in Brechin. Our Chief is His Grace The Duke of Fife. If you send me your
mailing address I will place you on our newsletter listing.

Hi all,
I'm new to the list and would like to get any info on this family. I
have my CARNEGY family traced to 1210 Scotland known as de BALINHARD at
the time. My Ggrandmother was Clara Margaret Whyte Carnegy who has
passed at the age of 104 this year. May God bless her soul. The earliest
photo I have was taken in 1907 Forfar, Scotland of her grandparents
Golden Anniversary with all his children. I have family (that I know of)
in England,Scotland,Canada,Ieland and the USA.
My cousin in Scotland has been helping me out with this. The name
CARNEGY come from the Earl of Northesk in 1720 from the CARNEGIE name
also his brother Earl of Southesk and his family still use the old
spelling.
Thanks
Bill
