Hi all - have just come across this conversation. My uncle Dick (Richard Alastair) Bruce,
with assistance from his daughter Toni Bruce, compiled the chart below. If anybody has
details that aren't in this chart and relate to the Carnegies, Jane Hebenton (Habenton
in Dick's chart) or the Bruce clan in New Zealand, I'd be most interested to hear
from you. My parents were Logan and Ysabel Bruce.
Also, one of my great grandmothers was Matilda McDonald, who married Adolf Hansen in
Gisborne in 1882 and had my grandmother Constance, Dick and Logan's mother - any
details on the Northern Irish McDonalds would be greatly appreciated also as I'm
currently working in Ireland and could do some sleuthing from over here.

m. Jane Shand Habenton at Brechin (b. 19 August 1820, d. 26 August 1914). Jane died on
Fernside Station, Tokomaru Bay & is buried on the Station. Alexander is buried in an
unmarked grave in the Bruce plot at Waipukurau Cemetery next to the grave of William
Bruce, brother of David Small Bruce (our grandfather). Which side he is buried is not
known as records were transferred to Wellington. This Alexander is Dick's
greatgrandfather. Alexander and Jane had four children
1) David
m. Janet Langlands and remained in Scotland. Two of their children, John (Johnny) and
Jessie came out to New Zealand and Jessie married her cousin (our uncle Alec (Alexander)
Bruce). Mary, another daughter, married Alexander Gunning and their son Peter (NSW) came
to see Dick and Georgina at Red Beach in 2002.
2) James
m. Jessie Matheson Smith. Came to NZ on boat with sister Isabel (see below)
3) Isabel
b. 1 February 1850
d. 20 December 1928
m. David Small Bruce (Dick's grandfather)
b. 1851
d. 2 November 1935 (see later Family Tree for their children). Dick's father Frank was
the 3rd child
4) Margaret
m. Thomas Raulston. They apparently had two children but no other information available.
