Dear Lists: The ancestor I am writing to both lists about concerns a
daughter of Thomas BLAIR and Sarah CARNAHAN. To review my quandary:
one group of people say their daughter Elizabeth married David Barton
HALL in Rutherford County TN. Another group in Washington County, AR
published the fact that Elizabeth was "afflicted" and died in the home
of her brother Jesse M. BLAIR in Cane Hill, AR. This was published in
the "Flashback"--a journal of that County's Historical Society. The
article also stated that Jane BLAIR, another daughter, married "HALL."
No first name given.
I wrote one of my "Cousins" in TN about this contradiction and asked her
if the TN families could possibly be wrong and that it really was Jane
instead of Elizabeth. Here is her answer:
"Now to your question about David Barton Hall's wives. I would say that
Elizabeth Blair was her name. All my life I have heard the story from
my grandfather, my mother and Aunt Mary that he (David Barton Hall) was
married 3 times and each wife was named Elizabeth. I wish you could
have known my grandfather (this gf she is talking about was the grandson
of Thomas Blair and Sarah Carnahan). He was an expert on family history
and was great at keeping you enthralled on family stories. So I would
believe him to be correct on Elizabeth."
