I had a whole, long reply written then I hit the wrong button and lost the whole thing! On
the 1840 census, I found a Catherine, Adam, Andrew, John and William in White Eyes, OH.
Catherines info says there is 1 male 50 and under 60, and 1 female 40 and under 50. Just
looking briefly, William and John both report males and females 30 and under 40, so I
don't know if it's the right family. Could be I guess if Catherine was very young
when they were born. In 1840, John Stevenson is listed as living by himself in Iowa - if
it's the same one. What I'm curious about is, who are the Streepers and what was
their significance? They must have been close also. Hugh and Dr. Stevenson obviously owned
a business together so that partnership is fairly clear - the Streepers are also very
explicitly listed in his will. Charles S. Streeper looks to be a generation behind Hugh,
and doesn't appear on the census in Iowa until 1860 - says he was born in
Pennsylvania. If it's the right Charles S!
. Streeper. There are a couple other Charles Streepers listed as living in PA on both the
1850 and 1860 census. It's amazing how finding some info actually leads to more
questions rather than answers!
