Rubber Growing Is Pronounced Feasible In U.S.
New York, Jan. 5 - Production of rubber in the United States for the purpose of combating
the British rubber monopoly was pronounced feasible today by George H. Carnahan, president
of the Inter-Continental Rubber company, before a meeting of the company's
stockholders here.
"This company has put in fifteen years of research and experimentation and I believe
that we are not ready to cultivate the rubber ????ing shrub on a profitable commercial
basis under normal rubber prices." said Mr. Carnahan. "We have a small
commercial crop already planted and in a few years we expect to be producing rubber in
large quantities right here in the United States."
Stockholders approved a reorganization plan which dissolves the old corporation and
distributes the assets in cash and stock in the new company. Stockholders have been given
the opion of taking 100 shares of new stock and $150 cash or 180 shares and $70 cash.
