I have not seen discussion on this list, that I can remember anyway, if
there has ever been a group of Carnahan descendants that have had their DNA
tested. Is there such a group and if not, is anyone out there interested in
DNA testing?
I have twisted my brother's arm to have him tested for our BENSON line and
it has been a blessing. If for nothing else, it eliminates a whole lot of
lines to keep from going down the wrong path. We were fortunate enough to
have two matches through 37 markers, which is rare in DNA testing unless
there is a fairly large group that has been tested....guess there is just not
that many Bensons out there. I have also had a LEE cousin that was tested
and "lo and behold" the research that had been done by many Lee
descendants, with records to back up the connections, were disproved by DNA testing.
We now know where the break was, so all is not lost.
I hope this generates some interest in the discussion of DNA testing, pro
or con, since several different Carnahan lines have been identified in the
USA and a good number of those have been researched back to where they came
from before the USA.
