Indiana County, Pa. January 1899
DAVID CARNAHAH.
Infirmities incident to old age caused the death of David Carnahan, of near Tannery,
this county, on Monday morning, January 16th, at 2 o'clock, aged about 87 years. He is
survived by his second wife and eight children. Funeral services will be held
this-Wednesday-morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in Oakland cemetery,
near this place.
(Note: David Richard Carnahan b. 29 July 1808 in Bell twp., Westmoreland co. Pa. died 16
Jan 1899, near Tannery, Indiana co., Pa. Married (1) Martha Morrison, died 1855; and md.
(2) Lavinia A. Berkeypile. David was the son of Thomas Carnahan and Mary (Polly) Kenley.)
David Carnahan.
David Carnahan, one of the oldest resident of this county, died at his home near Crete on
Monday morning at 2 o'clock, from the effects of an attack of la grippe. He was taken
sick on Saturday, and his enfeeble constitution was not able to withstand the ravages of
the disease. Deceased twice married and leaves 10 children to mourn his death. The funeral
will be held today at 10 o'clock.

DAVID R. CARNARAN.
David R. Carnahan, perhaps the oldest resident of Armstrong township, died suddenly on
Monday morning at 2 o'clock at his home near Tannery, aged 90 years and 7 months. The
deceased was in his usual health until the day previous to his death. He was almost a life
long resident the neighborhood and was an unusually active old man. He was twice married
His first wife died two years ago, but the following children of the first family are
living: Morrison and Israel, of Armstong township, and Thomas, of Shelocta. His second
wife and the following children are living: Harvey and Mrs. T. C. White, of Crete; Levi
and David, of Armstrong township; Mrs. Nelson Bothel, of Taunery; Caroline living here,
and Dickey, on the old homestead. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Crete United
Presbyterian church. The funeral services will be conducted this morning at 10 o'clock
by his pastor, Rev. M.S. Telford, and interment will follow Oakland cemetery, at this
place.

David R. Carnahan
David R. Carnahan, of Armstrong township, died January 16, 1899, aged 90 years and 7
months. Mr. Carnahan was born and raised in Westmoreland county. He married to Miss Martha
Morrison, of Derry, Westmoreland county
in 1835. There were born to them seven children: Thomas of Shelocta; Mrs. Herron, of
Indiana; Margaret J. and Mrs. J. S. Pershing, deceased; Israel, of Parkwood, and J.
Morrison, of Crete. Mr. Carnahan moved to Indiana county in 1851 and purchased a farm from
James Clark, north of Indiana and removed to Armstrong township in 1868. His first wife
died in 1854. He then married Miss Levina Berkeypile in the year 1863, and to this union
there were born seven children: Harvey, of Crete; Miss Carrie E., at home; Mrs. N. M.
Bothel and Levi, of Tannery; Mrs. J. C. White, of Crete; David M. of Schelocta, and Dickie
R., at home. He joined the Presbyterian church of Indiana under Rev. McElwain, to which he
belonged until he removed to Armstrong township, when he joined the United Presbyterian
church of Crete. Mr. Carnahan was a kind and loving father and husband and much respected
by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. M. S. Telford,
