I know there are several - that's part of the problem. We don't know where
he was from - don't even know exactly where he's buried. We know he lived
in
Western PA at one time, and was married to a Hannah unknown. He was born
circa 1780 at an unknown location and died circa 1847, possibly in Clarion
County, PA. Part of what makes it difficult is that the county lines moved
during his lifetime, so he could have lived in a couple different counties
without ever moving - and in one of the counties we believe he lived in, the
courthouse burned down with all the records it maintained. He's as far back
as I can go with the Carnahans in my line. I'm trying to find out who his
parents are, who his siblings are, and his wife's family. I've been
spinning my wheels going from this angle, so I'm just checking out the other
branches for any Thomases, and I research them and discount them when I
compare the information I find. We've been working on him (my late
Grandmother and my Dad's co!
usin) ever since I was young and have made very little progress -
he's a
tricky one.
