Hi John,
So far I haven't crossed paths with any of Hiram's descendants. Perhaps
someone else might.
He didn't have a lot of them as far as I can tell.
I have 8 children for Hiram Carnahan.
1. Robert Newton Carnahan - 15 July 1850 - 17 July 1927
So far I have 5 children for Robert and of those 5 I can only find where 1
of them married or possibly married. That is the Frank Carnahan that I asked
about in one of the other messages.
2. Henry Frank Carnahan - 16 Aug 1852 - 2 Jan 1931 - never married
3. Mary Ann Carnahan - abt 1854-aft 1910 - md Edward A. Taylor
So far I have 2 children for her but it looks as if one died prior to
marriage and haven't found anything on the other yet.
4. Florence Margaret Carnahan - abt 1856 - abt 1920 - never married
5. Clark Wilson Carnahan - 5 June 1858 - 3 Apr 1908
So far I have 4 children for him - 3 daughters and 1 son. I have 1 or 2
children for each of the daughters and the son never married.
6. Lincoln Carnahan - b. abt 1860 - died bef 1870
7. Rosa Carnahan - b. 23 Jan 1861 - d. 22 Apr 1870
8. Nellie Carnahan - b. abt 1864 - md John D. Mercer - no children
Hiram is rather interesting - he left Missouri for Oregon. It appears he
traveled in the same wagon train as the Donners but he went another direction.
He helped with the Applegate Party to the pass to Oregon. Spent a short
time in the California gold fields and then went back to Oregon for a land
claim. He also served in the Cayuse Indian War and enlisted at Whitman's Station
where that famous massacre took place. And according to the Oregon
Geographic Names there is a community on the Clatsop Plains named for him.
Maybe someone else on the list has crossed paths with one of Hiram
descendants. That would really be helpful.
Thanks again - Emma

Emma,
Do we have a direct descendant out there from this line. There must be a
number of them in Oregon.
