Hi Bess,
My mother descends from the Rutherford, Tennessee, Carnahan's. James
Carnahan, born 1812, and Martha Woodward, being her great grandparents.James was the
s/o of Hugh Carnahan, Margaret Elizabeth Tennison.
Elizabeth Carnahan Crowley Jones, born 1841, her grandmother. Mary Elizabeth
Jones, born 1874, in Brunot Missouri, her mother.
My grandmother Mary Elizabeth Jones, born 1874, told my mother, her
grandmother Carnahan was born in England and came to America as a young girl and had a
younger sister who died and was buried at sea during the trip to America. I
believe Martha Woodward, who married James Carnahan, would have been that
grandma Carnahan who was born in England and came to America with her parents as a
young girl. Does your book have any information on Martha Woodward's family?
Please include us on your mailing list.
Thanks,
Jo Ann Crafton
