Sorry for being so slow to reply - I've been away! My great Uncle, John Campbell
Carnaghan (sometimes spelt Kernaghan) was born on 21 August 1889 in Belfast, Northern
Ireland. His parents were Joseph Kernaghan and Margaret Ann Campbell, both originally from
Lisburn in Co Antrim. He was the second of 7 children. He married Netta Stoddart on 20
February 1915 in Belfast, and they had a daughter Ella on 4 May 1915. The marriage
didn't work out and he disappeared some time after that. Family stories are that they
thought he had gone to New York or Canada. I believe he was a painter/decorator and had
worked on the intricate ceiling of the Grand Opera House in Belfast. I'd love any help
at all to trace him as it was a big regret to my grandmother that she hadn't found him
before she died in 1981.
