Fannie Claudia Guffin
Compton - Mrs. Fannie Claudia Carnahan Guffin, the daughter of Dr. Hiram Carnahan and
Sarah Christine Carnahan, was born July 26, 1865 at Malugin Grove, Ill. She died at the
home of her sister, Mrs. Eva Argraves, at 10:15 a.m., March 27, 1950.
January 1, 1885, Fannie Carnahan was married to Frank E. Guffin. The couple lived at Paw
Paw many years. Frank Guffin died in 1925.
Fannie Guffin moved to Compton nine years ago, where she resided with her sister, Mrs. Eva
Argraves. One sister, Letitia Carnahan Doty, preceded her in death and Fannie Guffin is
survived by a sister, Mrs. Eva Argraves, and a brother, Len Carnahan, both of Compton.
Services were held Wednesday, March 29, at the Compton Methodist Church. The Rev. Barent
Johnson officiated. Music was by Elizabeth Weiler, Fae Richardson, and Helen Fuller.
Pall bearers were Art Chaon, Wilson Rhoads, William Horton, Don Archer, Wilder Richardson,
and Russell Bradley. Interment was at Malugin Grove Cemetery.
