* 1938 - Nov. 17 - News article - Lima News - Lima, Ohio:
Three Hunters Shot In Lima Area Mishaps
Three more Lima district hunters were wounded as Ohio's hunting casualty toll Thursday
mounted to six dead and more than a score injured.
The wounded included Manley Carnahan, 32, of Ottawa, who was shot in the face; Paul
Wells, 24, of Continental, who suffered a leg injury, and Keith Crooks, 11, of near
Kenton, shot in the hand by a rifle.
Carnahan's face, right shoulder, and arm were peppered with slugs from the gun of an
unidentified hunter who fired too close Wednesday, it was reported. Wells said that he
was hunting in a ravine when another man fired from atop a slope and several slugs lodged
in the Continental man's leg near his knee. Both Carnahan and Wells were given
treatment by a physician and released.
Note: The above includes only those portions of the article referring to Manley
Carnahan.
