Hi Emma,
He is listed in Who Was Who In America:
Where did you find this listing? If there is a scanned copy on line
somewhere, I'd like to get a copy of it.
I also found mentioned of James and his father in three different
histories about Tippecanoe Co., IN
Biographical record and portrait album of Tippecanoe County, Indiana (Evansville, Ind.:
Unigraphic, 1972)
General R. P. DeHart, Past and present of Tippecanoe County, Indiana (Indianapolis, Ind.:
B.F. Bowen & Co.,
1909)
Cox, Sandford C., Recollections of the early settlement of the Wabash Valley (Lafayette
Ind.: Courier Steam
Book and Job Print. House, 1860)
While there was no bio in any of these books, they do place the
family here in the earliest times of the county and they do list the
Knights of Pythias connection for James Richards Carnahan.
I have copies of all the pages attached to the records for both
James's.

Hi Phil,
Those dates helped and you have him lined up correctly.
James Richards Carnahan who was involved in the Knights of Pythias was the
son of James Aikman and Martha Ann Dawson.
He is listed in Who Was Who In America: A component volume of Who's Who In
american History, Vol. 1, 1897-1942. Chicago: A.N. Marquis Co., 1943
b. 18 Nov 1840
d. Aug 1905
md Susan Elizabeth Patterson - 7 Nov 1867
parents Rev. James Aikman Carnahan & Martha Ann Carnahan
no children listed
Then.. found some more on him in newspapers but will need to send that later
tonight.
Have to run.
Take care - Emma

It is my belief this is James Richard Carnahan (1841-1905). He was
the son of Rev. James Aikman Carnahan (1802-1879) and Martha
Ann Dawson (1817-????).
All the references I've seen keep referring to the same guy, the same
military unit in the Civil War, etc. I still haven't found a roster of
members for the Knights of Pythias which lists his full name or
provides a bio on him.
