Hi Phil,
Sorry.... on this one I took a very undigital, old fashioned method.....
I checked an online biography index database available through our state
system. It had the the listing for the Who Was Who In America.
Then.....
I called the reference department for our college library and got them to
look it up....<g>.
I knew that our library had that book. They read the entry to me over the
phone.
I will get the entire biography Monday when I go to work.
The biography index also shows that there is a biography on him in these as
well:
Cyclopaedia of American Literature. Embracing personal and critical notices
of authors, and selections of their writings, from the earliest period to the
present day; with portraits, autographs, and other illustrations. Vol. 1. by
Evert A. Duyckinck and George L. Duyckinck. Philadlphia: 1875
Indiana Authors and Their Books, 1816-1916. Biographical sketches of authors
who published during the first century of Indiana Statehood with lists of
their books. Compiled by R. E. Banta. Crawfordsville, In: Wabash College, 1949
I had not tried this biographical index before and there are quite a few
Carnahan folks listed. So plan to go back when I get the chance and check for
others. Problem is - it is just a list of sources for biographies - not the
biographies themselves. So then we have to go hunting for the actual book....<g>.
Take care - Emma

Hi Emma,
He is listed in Who Was Who In America:
Where did you find this listing? If there is a scanned copy on line
somewhere, I'd like to get a copy of it.
