Benjain and Charles Carnahan A few days since, Benjamin and Charles
Carnahan left
the neighborhood of Industry for Kansas. While in camp near
Coatsboro, Adams County, Benjamin concluded to hunt awaile in the woods
adjacent. To get his gun from the wagon he mounted the tongue upon which he
stood and loaded the piece. After teh gun was loaded, he placed the butt
upon the wagon tongue from which it accidently slipped, in descending the
hammer struck the tongue, producing a concussion, which fired the piece. The
contents struck Mr. Carnahan below the navel and ranging upward came out
about the breast, from which he died in about 24 hours. His remains were
taken to Industry for interment.
