I found this reference in an obituary for John Robert
Carnahan (1827-1911). He was a son of Matthew
Carnahan (1798-1875) and his wife Lillie Laughlin
(1800-1843).

Recent Deaths
John R. Carnahan.
John R. Carnathan, for many years well known as a
carpenter and contractor in Indiana, died at his home on
West Philadelphia street, on Sunday evening at 8 o'clock,
death having resulted from a hardening of the arteries. Mr.
Canahan was one of the county's oldest residents, being
in his 84th year. Before coming to Indiana in 1879, he
lived for years on the farm in White township on which
the mining town of Carneytown now stands. Mr.
Carnahan was the father of seven children, all of whom
are now dead. His first wife died a number of years ago.
In 1902 be was married to Mrs. Jane Peelor, who with
two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Getty, of town, and Mrs. Mary
Gibson, of Creekside, survives.
A search in an index I have shows a Carney,
Westmoreland Co., PA. the above obit indicates it is in
White Twp. Johns death occurred at Indiana, Indiana
Co., PA and he was buried at Oakland Cem., Indiana,
White Twp., Indiana Co., PA.
Given the above, I would put more credence to Indiana
county rather that Westmoreland county. If anyone has
an exact location I'd also be interested.
