Hi.
Some of my family from Ballylongford settled in New Jersey (Hackensack
and Jersey City). One of them was Nora Carmody who was a housekeeper
for the Corbetts. The Corbetts are related to us as Honorah Corbett
married my great great grandfather, Cornelius Carmody. My father's aunt
Kitty Carmody settled in New York and married a Maloney. Her last
known address was in the Bronx but I don't even think she is alive any
longer. Many of our Carmody line first settled in Canada, in the
Northern part of Ontario (Pembroke mostly). My grandfather was brought
over to Canada by those Carmody's and he came to Detroit in the 1920s,
which is where we are mostly located now. My oldest brother, Mike, is
in Webster New York. Also, in New Jersey were the Guthries, who were
in-laws of my grandmother, Mary Ellen O'Hagan. Timothy Guthrie
sponsored my grandmother's trip to the USA, by way of Ellis Island. She
first landed in Hackensack, and then moved to Detroit where she met and
married my grandfather.
I don't know if any of this is helpful, but maybe you'll see a
connection somewhere in there.
Regards
Gerard

Hi, my name is Stacey Carmody and I am also looking for Philly area
Carmodys, I believe I am related to a Patrick Carmody who was a father
(or a brother?) to a Lawrence Patrick Carmody born May 22 1939. Is
Lawrence (Larry) part of your family?
Of course the name Carmody and the name Patrick are so common among the
Irish! There's a lot of Carmodys in Philly and beyond. So I may have
the wrong family, but I thought I'd give it a try!
Any feedback is greatly appreciated, even if your write back ("I have
no clue what you are talking about!") thanks in advance :) and if you
have concerns and questions, feel free to ask.
Stacey
