Message Board Post:
Aside from the below listed individuals from my family who are buried in the Calvary
Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois, there are a few other names in the same family plot. I am
providing these names here in the hopes that someone knows a link to my information
below:
John O'Neil, interred 2/6/16
Paul Jeyette, interred 1/17/27
Vincent Quinn, interred 6/6/49
Baby girl McNamara, interred 8/18/58
Terrence P. Cagney, interred 10/13/59
Catherine O'Neil, interred 11/23/07
My ggg-grandfather was John Carmody, born in Mar 1825 in Ireland. He immigrated to the US
about 1845 and married Johana (?) about 1855. Johana was also born in Ireland about 1828.
The family lived in Chicago from about 1850. Johana died first and was buried in the
Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois on 2 Mar 1879. John died in Dec 1901 and was also
buried at Calvary on the 25th of December.
John and Johana had two children I am sure of and two probable children that have not yet
been confirmed:
1. Cornelius Carmody, b. abt. 1857 in Chicago, d. 14 Aug 1889, buried Calvary Cemetery
2. Johanna Carmody (my gg-grandmother -- continued below)
3. Mary E. Carmody (probable) born abt. 1867 in Illinois, buried 6 May 1950 at Calvary
Cemetery
4. Margaret (Maggie) Carmody (probable) b. abt 1870 in Illinois, married John A. Jeyette
abt 1888, buried 2 May 1942 in Calvary Cemetery
Johanna Carmody, daughter of John and Johana, was born in Nov 1859 in Chicago. She
probably m. Peter J. Hill on 9 Aug 1882 at Holy Family Church, Chicago, Illinois. She may
have died on 5 Jul 1943 in Chicago.
Johanna (Carmody) and Peter Hill had three children I know of:
1. Walter D. Hill, b. Nov 1884 in Illinois, buried 30 Jan 1906 at Calvary Cemetery
2. Arthur P. Hill, b. Aug 1886 in Illinois, buried 7 Sep 1915 in Calvary Cemetery
3. Warren Francis Hill (my g-grandfather continued below)
Warren Francis Hill was born on 9 Jul 1888 in Chicago. He was married to Mildred Scott in
Detroit, MI on 20 Jul 1917 just before he shipped off to WWI as a private in Co A, 16th
Engineers. He was honourably discharged in May 1919. Warren Hill died 13 Mar 1928 at the
Edward Hines Jr. Hospital (VA Hospital) in Broadview, Cook Co., Illinois and was buried in
Calvary Cemetery. Mildred Scott lived until 24 Aug 1980.
The daughter (my grandmother) of Warren and Mildred (Scott) Hill was Mary Patricia Hill,
born on 31 Mar 1921 in Chicago, IL.
I am very interested in finding out more about any branch of this family. If you have any
further information you could provide, I would appreciate it. My email is attached to
this message.
Thanks,
Meg Baker
