"WARSAW {New York}- Paul L. Carmody, 93, a resident of East Side Nursing &
Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw and a lifelong Warsaw resident, died April 5, 2009, at the
Wyoming County Community Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1915, in Dale, {Wyoming County NY} son of the late Frank and Louise
Ziller Carmody. He was a 1934 graduate of Warsaw High School. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, having served during World War II. For several years he was an owner of the Warsaw
Super Duper and he also owned and operated Bud's Delicatessen for several years. Mr.
Carmody was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. He was a
past president of the Warsaw Kiwanis Club and past president of the Warsaw Central School
Board of Education. For many years, he was active in Little League baseball in Warsaw, the
Wyoming County Industrial Development Agency and the Warsaw Orangeville Gainesville Senior
Citizens group. Mr. Carmody was a past member of the Warsaw Lodge Free & Accepted
Masons. He was an avid card player.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Mildred Wolcott Carmody; his daughters, Laurie (John)
Mital of Windsor, N.Y., Linda Carmody (Tiuch) of Avon, Nancy (John) Bergmann of Averill
Park, N.Y., Cathleen (Thomas) Uptegrove of Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Schrader
and Marguerite Belden.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16,
at the East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 62 Prospect St., Warsaw. Burial will
be at a later date in Union Park Cemetery, Wethersfield Springs. Memorials may be made to
the East Side Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 62 Prospect St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
