Dear Jenny
This is amazing, I never expected to hear from anyone after all this time. I still
haven't found any information on my Patrick Carmody but I know that he was the father
of my grandfather and his three older brothers. Their mother was Mary Jane Loten but I
suspect that they were never leagally married as her father was a devout Cof E and would
never approve of her marrying a catholic so we think she must have run off with his and
their first child was born 11 months after their supposed marriage on the 25/11/1866. I
have always thought that my Patrick could be a brother of Thomas but he would have been
younger as his birth date would have been about 1845. And I was so convinced that I have
obtained all of Thomas Carmody's certificates, though his mothers surname changes from
Toohey on his birth and he is Carmody, and on his marriage it is Carmady and then on his
death it is Carmody again and his mother is Bridget Clarence. I have the church records of
the twins James and Jose!
ph but the mother's surname is Doohan, so how can they be of the same couple.
No certificates have been found for my Patrick Carmody, not a trace of him except his name
is on my grandfather's and his three older brothers birth certificates.
I would love to hear more about your line of the Carmody family as I think there is some
connection as my Patrick Carmody was supposedly born at Bathurst and he and Mary married
in Walgett 25/11/1866 but not sure of this.
I hope to hear from you soon
Regards
Karelle
