Charles Houston “Charlie” Carmichael
Charles Houston “Charlie” Carmichael, 85 of Searcy, went to be with his Lord on Aug. 28,
2006. He was born Jan. 4, 1921 in Peoria, Ill. to Charles W. and Lilly Ketchum Carmichael.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. He served in WWII, under
Gen. Patton in the European Theater, landing on Omaha Beach, Normandy, four days after the
invasion. He retired from Coast to Coast in Searcy. He was preceded in death by his
parents; one son, Charles Carmichael; and two sisters, Sylvia and Wilma.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel McKinney Carmichael, of 61 years; two sons, James
(Carol) Carmichael and David Carmichael of Searcy; two daughters, Martha (Boyce) Whitlow
of Searcy and Phyllis (Gary) Roberts of Truman; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Herman Carmichael of Haskell, Okla.; and two sisters, Thelma Swindle of
Kensett and Willie Mae Galloway of Searcy.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006. Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday,
Aug. 31 at Searcy-McEuen Chapel, officiated by Bro. Joe Goodwin. Interment will be at
Center Hill Baptist Cemetery. Singing will be provided by Mt. Pisgah Quartet. Pallbearers
will be Wayne Carmichael, Donnie Carmichael, Grant Carmichael, Jeremy Carmichael, Brian
Graham and Brian Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Bart Whitlow, Leo Person, Johnny
Fuller, Kenneth Coleman and Cody Pankey.
