Please excuse this off-topic post.
The following was forwarded to me by someone on another
list. At last....something positive we can all do. As the sender
said, such a small action that could have such a big impact.

I know two people who have loved ones on the NYC Fire Dept.
They are both working at the World Trade Center.
These men work 24 hour shifts. One is trained in search and
rescue so he is one of the firefighters going into the cracks
and crevasses, looking for victims. I have been asking my friends
to ask these guys what they need. Something that is not publicized.
But they already have all the supplies they need for now.
BUT I WANT TO DO SOMETHING.
On the news, they are saying that the firemen have become
discouraged because they have not found anyone in such a long
time. They leave out the part about the horrific conditions and
sights they see, but through it all, they go on and on and on.
So here is my idea. Let's start a Card Writing Campaign. Go out to
your local card shop and buy a card that reflects what your feelings
are about their heroic efforts and send it to them at:
NYC Fire Department
1 Chase Manhattan Plaza
New York, NY 10005
If anyone ever needed and deserved support and encouragement,
it's these brave men.
