Is anyone on this list researching Patrick Carmichael and Mary Arthur
Carmichael? Patrick was born about 1760 (maybe PA) and died before April
13, 1806 when his widow, Mary Arthur Carmichael married John Wilson in
Mercer Co., KY. This Patrick may have had a brother named Peter
Carmichael who married Maria Lucas abt. 1779. Peter's family was in Hardin
Co., Kentucky and later some migrated to Richland Co., Illinois and some to
Perry Co., Indiana.
On or about February 7, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, Patrick Carmichael
married Mary Arthur; the license was issued on that date, with George Hartt
giving consent for "my girl" and with Barney Wagner as Bondsman; the
marriage was performed by Rev. David Rice, a Presbyterian minister who is
remembered in Mercer County, Kentucky, history as the founder of a school in
his cabin which became present-day Transylvania University.
Patrick and Mary's son, Patrick Carmichael, b. December 11, 1794 in Kentucky
d. April 26, 1882 in Eaton, Delaware Co., Indiana and is buried in
Ashenfelter Cemetery in Eaton. This Patrick married Margaret "Peggy" Lee in
Butler Co., Ohio on March 15, 1816. They had one daughter while living in
Ohio and then moved to Indiana -- first to Union Co., then Fayette Co. and
finally settling in Delaware Co., Indiana.
I descend from their son, John H. Carmichael, b. 1819 in Indiana and died
1878 in Swayzee, Grant Co., Indiana. John H. Carmichael married Sally
Duckett on July 30, 1844 in Franklin Co., Indiana. Their son, George Riley
Carmichael (1857-1936) married Louisa C. Dawson on July 15, 1882 in Herbst,
Grant Co., Indiana. Their son, Claude Carmichael married Dottie Glee Babb
on July 17, 1920 in Marion, Grant Co., Indiana. These are my grandparents.
Does anyone connect to this family?
