When Barzilla Alexander Carhicheal, Sr., filed to settle the affairs of his father,
Duncan," the name "Mina" appears as one of the minor children.
I am interested because one of my cousins was told by a Carmichael family researcher that
(Le)Mina married a Westmoreland and had a daughter named "(EL)Mina" or
"(Le)Mina" who married George W. Southern. We have their marriage bond, but
have not been able to identify the bride's father.
The 1846 marriage bond is unusual: George had to post a bond of $1,000 to guarantee
he'd marry "Mina." On the 1850, 1870, 1880 Forsyth Censuses, it shows a
Leah Westmoreland living in George's household. It appears he got two Westmoreland
women for the price of one.
Do you know anything further about Duncan's daughter Lemina?
