I'm sorry, but I checked all of the James Carmichaels in "The Scottish
Highlander Carmichaels of the Carolinas" and didn't find your James and Sarah.
I, also, checked "Scots in Georgia and the Deep South" and the 1800 NC Census
Index (thinking I might find a James who could possibly be his father) but with no luck.
Have you tried requesting information about James from the Archives and History Dept. in
GA? They may have some info that would help put the pieces together. (And you might even
get a bit of special attention.....the last time I was at their website, I noticed that a
man named Carmichael was the Director. :-)
