Of interest to those of you who are descended from Archibald
Carmichael, Isle of Lismore, Scotland, who came to America in 1774,
and whose descendants first settled in Marion Co., SC and Richmond
Co., NC:
I've just learned the location of the gravesites of Mary Margaret
and Dougal Carmichael, two of the children of my 2-g-grandparents,
Daniel and Nancy McCormick Carmichael. Their names are listed in
Roderick Carmichael's book, but I had no idea where or when they were
born or died. Mary Margaret's tombstone is the subject of a
newspaper article, as it had been missing for some time and was just
found. A picture of it is included:

I've been in contact with someone in Autauga County, AL who was
trying to clear up the mystery of who the two Carmichael children were
who are buried in Pratt Cemetery, Prattville, AL. Daniel and Nancy
migrated from Marion Co., SC to Autauga Co., AL some time after 1830;
and, then, on to Jefferson Co., MS, some time before the 1860 census;
then to Karnes Co., TX after 1870.
I asked if she knew of any epidemics in that area at the time the
two children died, since they died less than a month apart, and she
told me that there was a cholera epidemic in there in 1848 and
they were probably victims of the disease.
This is the link to the Pratt Cemetery webpage, which contains a
picture of the cemetery and a history:

With many thanks to Melissa Parker of Prattville, AL for helping
locate these two Carmichael family gravesites.
