Hi,
I've been a lurker here for years, and now I would like to ask for some
help.
My GG Grandfather was William Crawford Chormicle, b. in or near Sedalia, MO
in December 1839.
Here's what I know;
The spelling "Chormicle" is probably a result of poor spelling of Carmichael
(or some variation)
In the 1850 census he is living with the Robert Miles Family in MO.
I can find no record of him orior to 1850. Family "stories" say he was
orphaned in an Indian Raid in the mid 1840's in or around Sedalia, MO.
His middle name was Crawford and he gave a son the same middle name. This
made me think that Crawford might have been a family name. I have searched
for Carmichael/Crawford marraiges and found nothing.
He headed to CA in the mid 1850's
He led a colorful life in CA before he died in 1919. See:

Any helpful ideas??
