-------------------------
From Monterey Peninsula Herald, dated 27 March 1952:
DEATHS
G. CARMICHAEL
George Thomas Carmichael, well known in Monterey for over a quarter of
a century, died unexpectedly shortly after midnight this morning. Mr. Carmichael
suffered a coronary occlusion at his home, 1106 Del Monte avenue, and efforts
by a resuscitator squad of the Monterey Fire Department failed to revive
him.
He was born Jan. 2, 1882, in Modesto, and served as a gas foreman for the
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for 25 years. Prior to the use of natural
gas in this area, Mr. Carmichael was engaged in the manufacture of illuminating
gas. He was associated with the Coast Valley Gas and Eleectric Co. before
it was taken over by the P.G. & E.
His marriage to Miss Edna Palmer took place in Stanislaus County on Admission
Day 49 years ago. An ardent baseball fan, he made and kept hosts of warm
friends during his long life.
In addition to his wife he leaves five sons, Herbert Carmichael of Phoenix,
Ariz., Harold, Donald, Tod and Delbert Carmichael of Monterey; three daughters,
Mrs. Evelyn Marcetti of Modesto, Mrs. Bernice Agusta and Mrs. Dorothy Howard
of Monterey; a sister, Mrs. Letha Webb of Waterford, and two other sisters,
living in Oakland and Los Angeles; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services are pending at the Dorney and Farlinger Funeral Home and will
be announced later.
