In keeping with the purpose of this list, the
following constructive feedback is provided.
Surname Family Marriage Listings, Carman Web Space,
Patricia Tidmarsh,
http://patricia.rootsweb.com/carman/carmmarr.htm,
downloaded 5 August 1999.
Subject webpage incorrectly identifies dates provided
by "Documents Relating to the Colonial History of
the State of New Jersey, Volume XXII, Marriage
Records, 1665-1800" by William Nelson as being
dates various Carman Ancestors were married.
In fact these dates were listed as license dates
and not the dates people were married.
William Nelson did not identify places by county
rather just a place name. Burlington County on
the subject web page should be read as just
Burlington.
I should be noted that the web author did not include
female Carman marriages from the same source material.
Data entry row number 15, Richard Carman was listed
as a married date. In fact the source referenced,
"The Family of Richard Carman of Woodbridge, New Jersey"
by H.S.F. Randolph specifically states that the date
used was a license date! The following entry derieved
from the same source was identified as a license date
and not the date that Stephen Carman and Isabel Moores
were married. Note the spelling of the wife's first
name. Mr. Randolph nor Mr. Nelson, identifed Isabel
Moores as "Isabella Moores."
The date used on the web page for Samuel Carman and
Margaret Moores was also a license date. Stephen and
Margaret Carman was also a license date.
Data Entry for Isaac Harrison Carman is also incorrect.
This information was taken from the Indiana State Library
Web Site but was incorrect transcribed!
Isaac Harrison Carman should read Isaac H. Carman
and spouse should be identified as Mary Harrison
vice just Mary.
