In keeping with the purpose of this list, the
following constructive feedback is provided.
The following webpage was placed online today and
carries some of the same errors where were found
in the Family Tree Section of the same site.
Carman Family Outline, Carman Web Space,
Patricia Tidmarsh,
http://patricia.rootsweb.com/carman/caroutline.htm,
downloaded 8 August 1999.
The following corrections are noted:
Caleb Carman married Elizabeth not "Eliz" although, the
author could have been using an abbreviation.
John-3 Carman did not die in 1693.
William Stillwell Carman was not born in 1810 and did not
die in 1890.
Hezekiah-5 is not the son of William-4 (John-3, Caleb-2, John-1)
as stated on this web page.
Jacob-4 has not been proven to be a son of Caleb-3 (Caleb-2, John-1)
There currently is no evidence to support the
placement of the Rev. James Carman as a son of
Caleb-2 Carman as shown on this web page.
Phebe Carman has not been proven to be the daughter of the Rev.
James Carman.
Additionally, the Joshua Carman depicted here
as a son of James-3 was not the Baptist Preacher
of Kentucky and Emancipationist.
A complete article on the Rev. Joshua Carman of
Kentucky and Ohio origins can be found at the
Carman Meeting Place Website (documented).

There is no distinctly separate line for "Carmen" in
North America. The Carman Surname has routinely had
Spelling variations whether the line be German or
English. Sometimes the spelling variations would
last for a generations and sometimes the change
was tempoary. Carman has been spelled, Carmen, Carmon,
Carmin, Carmalt, Carmondt.
William Stillwell Carman compiled his genealogy of the
family over his lifetime and there is no evidence
to support that his manuscript was strictly compiled
in the 1880s.
Albert Pruden Carman's work is online and has been
updated by the direction of his descendants. It can
be viewed at the Carman Meeting Place website in it's
entirety.

"Theron Lewis Carman" should have read "Theron Lawrence
Carman". His work of English origins is not documented
and is considered by most to be unreliable and
fabricated. Although, there are tibit factoids within
the lineage described.
"Caroll Carman Hall" should read "Carol Carman Hall" .
He described his book as, "An 'anecdotal' accounting of
the Carman Family (his mother's)...that came to America
ten years after the Pilgrims and of their Illinois
descendants who were pioneers at Old Sangamon Town
in the Lincoln Country...they followed the American
civilization as it swept westward, not as trappers,
hunters, traders or famers...they were craftsmen..."
Privately published at Springfield, Illinois, 1981 ..
the 350th year of the family in America...
